If you have four kids at home and limited space in their bedroom, one furniture piece that should be on the top of your list is a Quadruple Bunk Bed. This type of bed features four twin size beds, that are usually placed in a corner of a room. They can accommodate four people, but actually take up the space of two twin size beds. How to choose a quadruple (quad) bunk bed?
The first thing you’ll notice that most of them have “L-Shape”, which means that they should be placed in a corner of a room.
- Make sure you check the dimensions of the bed, and it’s size so you’re sure it will fit in the room as planned. Check on which side the ladder(s) is located. Some beds have the option to reverse the side of the ladder, while with other beds you can’t.
- Only kids who are 6 years and older can sleep on the upper bunk. If your child is younger than that it should sleep on the lower bunk, this is a safety guideline given by The American Academy of Pediatrics.
- Check the weight capacity of the top and bottom bunk bed. The kids or adults who will be sleeping there should not exceed the weight capacity provided by the manufacturer.
- Some quadruple bunk beds can be separated into three twin size beds. This means that you an detach them, and use them as separate twin beds, once your kids don’t want to sleep on a bunk bed anymore.

It’a also constructed from Brazilian pine wood. Here the weight capacity is 220 lbs for the bottom bed and 175 lbs for the top bed. The L shape orientation can be reversed, to fit your room space. The bed ships in ten boxes, and the assembly might not be the easiest, however many customers who bought the bed have complimented how beautiful it looks once they’ve put it together. The recommended mattress thickness for the top bunk is 7″ while the bottom bunk is 8″. You can get it in white, dove grey, or chestnut color.

This is another fantastic bed, which can be easily tucked into any corner and maximize the space in your room. It has one ladder, which is attached to the center, and will be used by both kids sleeping on the top bunks. The fact that there is only one ladder, makes the bed look roomier and tidier. There are slatted panels and fence style guard rails. It’s made of solid wood and wood veneers, and has 180 lbs weight capacity for the top bed and 200 lbs for the bottom beds. Please note that the bed is not reversible, and when assembled will have the same configuration as the picture above. Also, it’s not detachable like the Reasor and Aurora beds shown above. The weight capacity for the top bed is 150, while for the bottom is 200 lbs. The beds can’t be separated. There is enough underbed storage under one of the twin beds, so you can place some storage boxes and bins, or buy underbed drawers or a trundle bed.

Alternative Option to а Quadruple Bunk Bed
The six beds above are fantastic quadruple bunk beds, but depending on your room space and budget, you might also consider buying two twin sized bunk beds and placing them in the corner of your room or side by side. This will also create a sleeping space for four kids. However, just make sure you check the dimensions carefully, and you check on which side the ladders are located. The ladders shouldn’t be blocked and your kids should be able to access them, so they can climb up and down the top bunk.
